Mary Keraa-Otara Biography

Mary Keraa-Otara was born in 1964 is married with children. She is a Kenyan Politician who belongs to Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and she is the Women Representative for Kisii County.

Hon. Otara is pursuing her degree in social work and community development with Daystar University. She has a diploma in social work and community development from Neema Lutheran College and a certificate on women leadership from St. Pauls United College-Limuru.
Hon. Otara has been a community worker since 1996 serving in various community committees within the Lutheran Church as a social worker, treasurer with Child Care Project; she worked with the Habitat for Humanity-Kisii regional office and Chaired Maendeleo ya Wanawake Organization (MYWO) Kisii South Branch. She has also served in the Kisii South District Education and Land Control Boards.
She was elected first Women Representative for Kisii County on 4th March 2013. In the parliament she serves in the Public Investments Committee, Committee on Implementation and a member of Kenya Women Parliamentarian Association (KEWOPA) where she is a member of the social and culture committee.
As an MP for Kisii County Hon. Otara focuses on championing women and youth empowerment within the county and advancing causes of benefit to women and youth generally.
