Emma Jalamo born Emmanuel odhiambo was raised in ugenya, siaya county,western Kenya showed his tallent earlier while singing in church choir,he composed his first gospel praise song ” GIMORA AMORO” which was instant hit both in church functions and mainstream media.
Music Career
Emma started his music as a choir member in Legio Maria, a religious organisation whose cradle is God Kwer, Migori County and whose members ascribe Messianic status to its late founder, Melkio “Papa” Ondeto Obingo.
The group, whose rich liturgy fuses modern-day Catholicism with elements of Luo traditional religion, is heavy on spiritualism. Legio Maria influence is evident in Emma’s music, which incorporates a lot of chanting and indentations of voice, otherwise known as dengo in Dholuo, which is normally deployed in dirges.
Emma being a versatile artiste changed to secular world to play “ohangla” fusion of traditional and mordern instruments like keyboard under mentorship of lady moreen “queen of ohangla”Emma showed great potential that made lady moreen to putt him as one of main vocalist in the band.Little while he moved out to form ohangla young turks which he composed all time favourite Maccellina and first lady in praise of his wife.being a prolific song writer he recorded hit “simba jauriri,gololi and mapenzi.He performs in Nairobi.
