Kimya Biography
Kimya was born in Nairobi, he moved to the U.S.A at a young age and was raised in California. He began Rapping in 1992 when he was 12. When he relocated back to Nairobi, around 1994, he began frequenting clubs in Nairobi, and participating in Hip-Hop competitions. In 2001, he went to Dar es Salaam and ended up teaming up with Tanzania’s renowned Hip-Hop group “Kikosi Cha Mizinga” which is a group similar to Ukoo Flani Maumau of Kenya. After launching their first album as Kikosi cha Mizinga titled “Kufa au Kupona”, he opened his first studio, “House of Music” in Tanzania. In 2006 after returning to Kenya, Kimya was nominated for Kenya’s Kisima award for the best Hip-Hop track for 2006 called “Puchlines Kibao”. The track was collaboration between Ibra da Hustler from (Tanzania) and Johnny from Kalamashaka (Kenya). Kimya is Bamboo’s younger brother.
