Ann McCreath is the Managing Director at KikoRomeo Africa (Kenya). She is Chair of FAFA (Festival of African Fashion & Arts), which she co-founded in 2008 to produce “Fashion for Peace”, and is currently the Kenya Coordinator for Fashion Revolution Day.

Ann McCreath has a MA Hons in General Arts from University of Edinburgh and a Diploma in Haute Couture from KOEFIA in Rome, Italy.

She quit her job at the NGO and founded KikoRomeo – which means ‘Adam’s apple’ in Kiswahili and is today one of East Africa’s leading fashion brands. The fashion house specialises in African-inspired contemporary clothing.
KikoRomeo
KikoRomeo has been a pioneer in Kenya. An Afrocentric fashion brand founded in Kenya in 1996 by Ann McCreath, it has been at the forefront of the Kenyan fashion industry, inspiring many young people to go into fashion. Born from a desire to do trade not aid. It has created jobs in rural communities and a strong fashion brand for Kenyans to be proud of. Fair trade since inception, KikoRomeo boasts a track record of working with community groups and crafts people around Kenya for close to two decades.
It has also had an impact on sports representation in and out of the country, by partnering with Kenya’s national teams in rugby and athletics to dress them for formal occasions. KikoRomeo shows all over Africa as well as Europe and the USA. It has won many awards at home and internationally and is regularly called at ministerial level to give advice on the fashion and textile industries. It has been in retail for 19 years, including 8 years in the upmarket Yaya Centre and is particularly knowledgeable about fashion retail in Kenya and East Africa. KikoRomeo is a household brand name in Kenya and beyond. KikoRomeo also manages the Kikoti brand, which is designed by Ann’s daughter Iona McCreath.
Festival of African Fashion & Arts (FAFA)
FAFA was founded by Ann McCreath in 2008 in response to post election violence. Recognising the position of an artist as a unifying force in society, FAFA was set up to show Unity in Diversity. Bringing
people of different political beliefs and cultures together, using fashion & arts as a medium to break the ice and start conversation. Using the glamour of fashion to counteract images of violence, gaining positive media coverage in every continent of the globe.
Shining a light on the immense creative talent that exists in Africa to change world perceptions of the continent. Breaking down stereotypes and generating positive energy. Sending a good news story from Kenya to the rest of Africa and Africa to the world. Activities include premium Fashion Shows in Kenya & outside (London especially), top Photoshoots, Designer Masterclasses by renowned fashion professionals, Neighborhood Markets every first Sat of the month, Kilimani Neighborhood Market, Pop Up shops, FAFA Insight Competition for Emerging Designers, Business of Fashion courses, Fashion parties and fashion apps.

Ann has won many awards for her work in fashion and peace building, and was listed in the “Top 100 Women Influencing Africa” by Arise Magazine Read the Arise article , as well as being a finalist in the Ethical Fashion Forum Source Awards 2012 for “Outstanding Contribution to Sustainable Fashion”.
