Kitengela land traders in ownership feud
A director of a land-buying company in Kitengela is embroiled in a property tussle following a disagreement with a senior group member.
Stanley Kinyanjui is the Magnate Ventures managing director.
He bought 100 acres from United Insurance Company in 2012, which at the time was under receivership. Yesterday, George Gichiri said Kinyanjui denied him a share of 10 acres he paid Sh1.7 million for.
Gichiri said Kinyanjui reneged on the agreement and refunded him the money, which he refused to take.
“Gichiri was to wait until the land value appreciates but he later said I denied him access to the land. I decided to refund his money,” Kinyanjui said.
Gichiri said he refused to take the money because the land has appreciated.
“Let him pay me at the current market price,” he said.
A surveyor who requested anonymity said he curved out Gichiri’s 10 acres from the 120 acres.
“I did my part. If the two have any wrangles, I do not want to be involved,” he said.

The former wife of a top outdoor advertising company director has accused the man of verbally and physically assaulting their child as a dispute over custody the minor rages. In an application to be heard next month, Mary Muthoni claims Stanley Kinyanjui – the Managing Director of Magnate Ventures – wants the court to review the maintenance and custody of the child. She wants court to give her exclusive custody of the minor because Kinyanjui verbally and physically abusive.
The treatment has affected the child emotionally, psychologically and academically. Muthoni wants the Sh20,000 a month be enhanced because of the child’s increasing needs. She adds that the businessman has failed to comply with the court order requiring him to cater for their full medical expenses and clothing. The businesswoman claims Kinyanjui has arrears of Sh700,000, which he has not paid in the past 35 months.
