David ole Nkedianye Biography
David ole Nkedianye was born on 20th December 1963 and holds a PhD in Pastoralism, Land-use and Conservation from The University of Edinburgh, U.K, a M.A. from the University of Nairobi in Rural Sociology and Community Development, a Post Graduate Diploma in Planning and Management of Development Projects from The Catholic University of Eastern Africa, a B.ED in Social Education and Ethics and Christian Religious Education from The Catholic University of Eastern Africa-Kenya and a Diploma in Education from Siriba Teachers’ College. He is a seasoned scholar and researcher and has worked extensively in the region. He worked with ILRI (International Livestock Research Institute) as a Community Facilitator prior to which he was a Consultant for the institute. He trained Enumerators to carry out survey for AWF in three Group ranches in Laikipia and conducted a workshop to gauge the success of the survey. He conducted the final review of the African Conservation Centre’s (ACC) Community Conservation Program (CCP) sponsored by the EU. He conducted a survey “Assessing information Needs of leaders for better Policy and decision making” in collaboration with ILRI which covered four divisions of Kajiado district. He was a Community Development Officer (consultant) for the Mara Conservancy in Trans Mara District. He worked as a Research Consultant with The Wildlife Foundation, sharing information generated with the Board of Directors of the Friends of Nairobi National Park (FoNNaP). In Kenya’s 2013 general election, David vied in the gubernatorial elections, winning as Governor of Kajiado County, alongside Deputy Governor Paul Mpute Ntiati. He was elected on an ODM party ticket.
